  4. LDRAW.ORG PARTS LIBRARY AGREEMENT: CAreadme.txt
  5. 1. Introduction
  6. The following is the README text for the LDraw Parts Library
  7. licenced by the Creative Commons Attribution Licence 2.0 as
  8. specified by the LDraw Contributor Agreement (CA). Parts which
  9. fall under this agreement will contain the following line in
  10. their headers.
  11. 0 !LICENSE Redistributable under CCAL version 2.0 : see CAreadme.txt
  12. However this text is not a license! It is simply a handy reference
  13. for understanding the Legal Code (the full license), which can be
  14. found in the CAlicense.txt file - it is a human-readable expression
  15. of some key terms. Think of it as the user-friendly interface to
  16. the Legal Code beneath. This text itself has no legal value and its
  17. contents do not appear in the actual licence. For a deeper insight
  18. please visit: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/
  19. 2. Rights
  20. You are free:
  21. * to copy, distribute, display, and use the CA approved LDraw
  22. Parts Library
  23. * to make derivative works
  24. * to make commercial use of the CA approved LDraw Parts Library
  25. Under the following conditions:
  26. 3. Attribution.
  27. You must give the original author credit.
  28. * For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others
  29. the licence terms of this library.
  30. * Any of these conditions can be waived if you get permission
  31. from the copyright holder.
  32. The LDraw Steering Committee (SteerCo) also holds an attribution
  33. to 'The LDraw Parts Library' in such Derivative Works to be sufficient
  34. in lieu of a full list of authors.
  35. Your fair use and other rights are in no way affected by the above.
  36. 4. Enforcements
  37. The single copyright holders are the sole entity responsible for
  38. enforcements of their copyrights. For purposes of enforcement
  39. LDraw.org considers the following good rules of thumb to determine
  40. if a new file is not a Derivative work. Anything else should be
  41. considered a Derivative work and an attribution would be required.
  42. If in doubt contact the current LDraw SteerCo.
  43. What is not considered a Derivative work?
  44. * Rendered images generated from the LDraw library. Rendering here
  45. covers any conversion of a 3D model file into a 2D image.
  46. * Model files containing references only (the source code for the
  47. part may NOT be included in any form) to parts in the official
  48. LDraw Parts Library at the time of their creation. Part files
  49. which are marked as unofficial at the time of creation may be
  50. included in full in the model file. If the sole or main purpose (as
  51. determined by the LDraw SteerCo in consultation with the potentially
  52. offending author and LDraw community at large) of the Model file
  53. is to include large numbers of unofficial parts then it WILL be
  54. considered a derivative work.
  55. * Alternative libraries of parts which LDraw.org does not own or
  56. enforce the copyright. If some or more of the parts in the library
  57. are converted from the LDraw Parts Library then they must be
  58. considered a Derivative work.
