2018 js 13k Game

You are a robot living in a robot society. You were out and had to update your wifi driver, but before you could you got disconnected. Robot society sees being offline as a social taboo, so you have to get home and fix your driver. But you are trapped by social convention at a robot party, and have to obscure the fact that your wifi is not working.

  • Robot has to converse with other robots
  • Robots (connected) talk about things you can only know while connected.
  • You have to give an excuse, find a hardwire terminal to download the info.
  • Social taboo means if anyone sees you, you get embarrassed.
  • Hardwire terminals are often in disarray, and need to be repaired before you can use them.
  • You sneak off, fix a terminal, download the info and return to the party to continue the conversation.
  • After x conversations, you can go home and fix your wifi driver.

Playthrough

  1. Main menu, play button
  2. load up into networking minigame, start tutorial
  3. Basic walkthrough of how to connect and download
  4. before download completes, screen goes crazy and
  5. You see another robot jostled you (like opening bathroom stall door)
  6. Your wifi driver failed, so now your wifi is down.
  7. You go to restart the download but...
  8. Another robot drags you to a party
  9. You are stuck at the party talking to other robots, trying to hide the fact your wifi is broken
  10. They love talking about things that a non-networked robot find impossible (captchas, human culture, etc)
  11. You need to give an excuse so you can go find a hardwire terminal
  12. You can't let anyone see you using an embarrassing hardwire terminal
  13. You have to fix the terminal when you find it
  14. You have to download the appropriate conversation material
  15. And return back to the person you were talking to and discuss the topic.
  16. After you correctly socialize, you are free to go home and fix your wifi.
